Neufeld Learning Systems Inc. has given its Understanding Math website a face-lift.

Our changes were prompted by our unwavering commitment to continually improve our software and teacher resources so that student learning in mathematics is always improving.

Our revised web site features:

  • a cleaner, easier to navigate homepage
  • New Understanding Math Program Explorer
  • an opportunity to download a preview of our software
  • a resource section containing support material that teachers can use to plan effective mathematics lessons
  • Registered users will have access to our Teacher Forum.  This is an exciting new area where teachers will be able to share lesson ideas, examples of student work and insights about integrating technology into their mathematics program

NLSI Professional Learning Series is structured around the latest research in effective professional development practices. Our practices are embodied by those aspects that Wells (2007) and Garet, Porter, Desimone, Birman and Yoon (2001) have identified as critical to the successful implementation of teacher learning. They are consistent with our core beliefs. The NLSI Professional Learning Series is dedicated to achieving student success through inquiry based activities that are:

  • Learner Centered -Teachers are the key to improving student learning;
  • Practical - Professional learning must relate directly to the classroom.
  • Collaborative - Teachers should have opportunities for meaningful interaction with colleagues.
  • Engaging - Teachers should have opportunities to observe successful use/implementation of technology
